Natural Cork Stoppers
Natural cork stoppers are produced by drilling a single piece of cork. They are available in cylindrical or conical shapes and come in a variety of sizes.
The most common sizes are: 54×24–26 mm, 49×24–26 mm, 45×24–26 mm, 38×24–26 mm, 38×22 mm, and 33×21–22 mm.
Longer cork stoppers are typically used for wines that will age for a longer period in the bottle. However, it is important to note that the quality of the seal over time depends more on the correct choice of the stopper’s diameter than on its length.
In commercial classification, categories are commonly defined by visual criteria with the following designations: Flor, Extra, Superior, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
